“I’m not allowed to cook food or boil water for coffee, not even for washing my filthy body or dishes!”, says St. John’s homeless man who prefers to be anonymous.

The Liberal government of Newfoundland and Labrador have implemented a fire ban due to the lack of rain causing a medium drought throughout the province.
A homeless man, who wishes to remain anonymous, says he has been fined $50’000 for cooking scrambled eggs on a small camp stove during the early hours on Saturday morning during a period of drizzle above Bowring Park.
The homeless man said he was sat down on the metal footbridge that is located in the wooded area known as the capsules – that is near the pits memorial highway – when a pair of RNC officers were walking through the area when he was caught eating scrambled eggs and boiling water in a small kettle for his morning coffee.
The homeless man said he can’t pay the fine and has no fixed address even though his government of Newfoundland and Labrador issued I.D is still valid for another 6 months where his former address is now occupied by a family in the West end of St. John’s.
The homeless man said “guess the address where the sheriff officers are going to show up to when they go looking for me.”
“I have absolutely nowhere to live and I’m not allowed to cook food or boil water for coffee, not even for washing my filthy body or dishes!”, “this has happened to one man, how many other homeless people is this happening too?” says the St. John’s homeless man.
